I announced yesterday that I thought today should be a snow day and then I woke up and for the first time since high school I GET A SNOW DAY. Ollie always makes it through no matter what on our road, so I am always at work. Today he was out of luck. We aren't going anywhere today.

Spring is on the way

When I woke up today at 5:45am (thanks to my new b-day gift) and saw the rain I thought yuck. So far this morning I have updated the church website, finished another project for the church, picked up the house and now updating my blog. So now I am thinking today is going to rock.

Here is also a picture of my birthday gift from Oliver

May God Bless and Hold Him

My grandpa passed away this morning, my mom got a call from my uncle Jim at 3:30am. It is a blessing now that Grandpa does not have to fight for a breathe. I remember a man very full a life, he was a very strong presence in our family. I thank Grandpa for showing us what it meant to live a good life. For a man who came from a distant non loving family and put himself through school, married the girl he had an eye on in school, go to war, raise a family, and still think his wife was the most beautiful thing after 64 years. Not to mention all he had accomplished in his career. It wasn't until last winter when grandpa had gotten bad that I found out about some of the things Grandpa did. There is a plaque in their computer room given to Grandpa by Washington DC acknowledging Grandpa's efforts in education for immigrant children.
To think you will go through their deck door and not see Grandpa waiting for you in his chair. I have thought of all the great memories I have of my grandfather, when I was young with my sister, and now with my family. All I can say is, Thank you Grandpa.

Count down to moving in

Oliver just got the call next Tuesday 9:30am the county inspector is coming out to do the final inspection for us to get our permit to live in our house. So this is when I start asking everyone to start praying really hard. This weekend will be putting finishing touches on little things so we know they will pass the inspection and I should probably finish putting food in the house. Merry Christmas I get to move in is the next thing I hope to hear. Now whether or not I have jury duty doesn't matter anymore. Will get pix of the house out this weekend.

All I want for Christmas

Waiting for my daughter to get up so we can go over and start helping Ollie with the house. We are trying everything to get in by Christmas. We started with being in by Halloween, then we were for sure that it would be Thanksgiving. Then last Monday the county inspector came out to look at the gas line for the furnace and Ollie had him look around to make sure things were going well. SURPRISE, SURPRISE, they didn't put any codes on our blueprint. So Ollie had to tare out the basement steps and redo, then the list was so large he is still working on it. Has been at the house every night after work until 10:30pm. At this point my only Christmas wish is that he stays sober and living at home by Christmas would be nice. Amazing how life changes the way you see things. Every Christmas I am always the first in the car looking for Christmas lights, I love driving around and looking at all the lights. I also have to have my tree up to enjoy ASAP and there is always so much going on in church this time of year. This year if Christmas just brings me closer to getting in our house then I would not worry about the rest.
